Deniz Atasoy received his B.S. in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Bilkent University Ankara/Turkey and his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Texas Southwesten Medical Center at Dallas. He moved to Ashburn, Virginia for his postdoctoral studies at Janelia Research Campus where he studied neurobiological basis of appetite regulation. Between 2014-2018 he worked as a faculty member at Medipol University at his hometown, Istanbul. Since September 2018, he has been a member of the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Iowa.

Nilufer received her B.S. in Molecular Biology and Genetics from METU, and her Ph.D., in the same area, from Bilkent University in Turkey. She started her postdoctoral career in Istanbul Medipol University, Turkey and studied hypothalamic circuits in feeding behavior and metabolism. Since October 2018, she works as an assistant research scientist in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Iowa. She is an ultimate animal lover and likes to draw, travel, hike, and knit.
